Officially known as the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, this piece of legislation has already passed the House and is advancing through the Senate. It includes:
$151 billion for expanded immigration enforcement, including mass detentions and expedited deportations
Authorization for the President to defund elections deemed noncompliant
Suspension of voter protection enforcement mechanisms
A remittance tax on money sent abroad by immigrants, targeting immigrant families
A clause to block judicial review of executive actions
If passed, this bill would not just expand executive authority—it would legalize the suppression of opposition, cancel fair elections, and further criminalize communities of color.
Citizenship at Risk: A Supreme Court Warning
In addition to legislative changes, a Supreme Court case now threatens birthright citizenship. If overturned, children born in the U.S. to undocumented parents could be denied citizenship, violating over a century of legal precedent from Wong Kim Ark v. United States (1898).
This decision could:
Render thousands of children stateless
Set a precedent for racial exclusion
